Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for over 20 years. She has written fifteen books and is the cofounder the magazine The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is an author, philanthropist, television personality and the owner of the independent open online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. Originating from Greece she relocated to England when she was 16 and completed her studies at Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. When she was 21, she became the head of the famous debate society The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign student to do so. As a conservative syndicated blogger following her graduation, she went on to become an influential voice for the Huffington Post. Arianna was able to attract many prominent contributors to share their opinions on culture and politics. Arianna's popularity started in 2003, after she was a candidate for an independent for the California recall vote to replace the then governor Davis. She was also involved in a Detroit-based project that promoted cars that are fuel efficient. Forbes declared her to be the "most important woman" in the media industry and ranked her 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 top media personalities in 2009. AOL Inc. made her the President of their media division in 2011 following the acquired The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post included additional AOL brands such as Engadget AOLmusic Style list and Patch Media. Elli is the daughter of Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, and Elli the other, both of whom are management consultants and journalists. Even though she was close to her father, her connection with her mother shaped the remainder of her life. She showed leadership traits throughout her childhood. At the age of sixteen, she left the United States to the United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. While in college she joined the college debating Society Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign and third female president. She graduated in 1972 with the degree of master's in Economics. In the years following her graduation, she became a critic columnist and television host. In addition, she was a part of an edition of Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books taking editorial help from Bernard Levin.
