Dolly-Parton
Born on Jan. 19 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn into a poor family that would eventually include 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to escape the hardships of life with her vast and imaginative imagination. Prior to learning how to read and compose the music she wrote herself, she created her own tunes. In the year she turned 8 at the time, she purchased the first electric guitar. Then she began singing on the Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. Her first album was recorded that same year with Gold Band Records, a small independent label. Her name was made for herself locally while still in high school, yet she dreamed of a bigger stage. After graduating from high school in 1964, she immediately relocated to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated TV show host at the time, was in search for a singer for his show. Parton accepted the job in 1967 signed with RCA Records in 1968 and began singing for the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. The show ended after 1974 because her solo music, including Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were out-charting their collaborations. Parton was a part of the group that split after the end of their partnership with Wagoner, wrote"I'm Always Loving You and had it reach No. #1 for the first time in 1974.
