Lee

Lee Roy Selmon's story combines family football scholarships and volunteerism in the community. He was the youngest son of Lucious Selmon and Jessie Semon. They took care of him at the farm they owned in Eufala. He was also one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma in football. Three brothers were All-America. The year 1973 was the first time Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the players for one season. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the most effective lineman in the United States. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy being the starting player. Also, they won two national championships. In 1975, Selmon was awarded his third scholarship and was recognized as a National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon received his bachelor's diploma in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer times a week in college. After graduation, he landed in Tampa playing nine years for the Buccaneers played the all-pro 3 times, and began a business career. His first job was as an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank, Tampa. In the past, he worked in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being one of the top 10 young men of the United States. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs when he played college football. The year 1975 was the first time he led the team. He joined his current position at University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame recognized the player on the 28th of October, 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma made the presentation.
